FARM ADMINISTRATOR

As a Farm Administrator you will have to ensure the smooth running of our farm or estate by overseeing operations.

You will work with animal and crop production. Livestock on farms tends to be pigs, goats, chickens, while crops can cover bananas and vegetables. You’ll implement strategies for maximum yield, organize farm administration, work machinery and manage any associated businesses and staff.

Requirements
– Previous hands-on farming experience and technical knowledge are as important as academic qualifications, and some employers may appoint you on the basis of your experience alone.

However, a degree is greatly valued, and most farm managers hold at least a degree or HND/foundation degree in agriculture or a related subject such as:- agricultural engineering- crop management- farm business management- horticulture- land/estate management

Skills
– willingness to be outside in all weathers and patience to undertake all sorts of practical, sometimes repetitive jobs
– understanding of the ways on which farming impacts the environment
– genuine commitment to farming
– a commitment to animal welfare and understanding of the ways on which farming impacts the environment
